About Me
Teresa Marie Small

Teresa is an emerging Australian Artist and teacher. Growing up in the Hills Shire of Sydney, her journey in art began at age 12, when she began painting. At age 16, she sold her first artwork at the Cumberland Art Show, and has been exhibiting and taking commissions ever since. Creating art is something she has always loved, and sharing beautiful moments with others is something by which she feel deeply impassioned. Making art is a freeing, meditative and satisfying process, from choosing the subject matter to signing the finished work.
Oil paint is her preferred medium and she takes a classical approach to her work, which involves using many layers of thinned paint. Teresa finds the atmospheric effects of light and colour fascinating to explore, through her choice of colours and techniques; when the sunlight is filtered through a shroud of mist, the radiant glow that illuminates a landscape on a summer afternoon, or those magical twilight moments at dusk or dawn, when the sky shows its dazzling rainbow of colours. Landscapes are undoubtedly her subject of choice. While she is painting, Teresa connects to a sublime sense of creation, and while her colours and brush marks build the scene, she feels present in the moment captured.

In addition to her love of landscape, she has become one of the countries most sort after Live Portrait Painters for weddings. With over five years experience, Teresa performs the awe-inspiring act of painting an accurate portrait of the couple on their wedding day. Completed with life-like realism in 5-7 hours while guests watch. This service requires exceptional technical skill and accuracy, a demonstration of almost 20 years painting experience.
